My first blog award!

What a lovely birthday surprise! I woke up this morning and discovered that Janna of Janana Bee has honored me (among others) with my very first blog award! Isn't it pretty?

As Janna -- and apparently all those that have passed this award on before her -- have said, the award states that "This blog invests and believes the PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships!" In case you don't know what that means (I didn't), the award description goes on to say, "These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."

Awww... So sweet. Thank you, Janna!

I would like to pass on the love to eight more bloggers, as the award suggests, so I'm including my list of blogs (blogs I've really only just discovered in the sole month I've been blogging, so I know there are many more of you out there) that I think also fulfill the spirit of this award. Here they are, in alphabetical order (because I'm just anal like that):

100 Days in Bed
A Pinch of This and a Dash of That
C. Beth Blog
Chasing Wentworth Miller
P comme Pascale
Ruby Isabella Jones
Tab Calhoun
The Last Visible Dog

Lovely bloggers, I want to share this lovely award with you, but please don't feel any obligation to do anything further with it, unless you are so inclined.

UPDATE: I have been tracing back through the blogs that have given out this award, hoping to learn something of its origins. What I have discovered, before running out of steam in the October archives of some random blog, is that only a month ago bloggers were calling it "The Snazzy Blog Award", a title someone later dropped, and that the blog itself is written in Portuguese.

***

UPDATE #2: Okay, I'm still trying to figure out where this blog award came from, but it's starting to give me a headache, and surely I have better things to do? (Not really, since I'm at work -- haha!) But seriously. This little award, like others of its kind, shows up all over the internet. Blog awards and other cyber versions of chain letters propagate themselves exponentially throughout the interwebs. All I know for certain is that this blog award is in Portuguese. It has been referred to as the Portuguese Friendship Award/Prize, the Charming Blog Award, and the Snazzy Blog Award, and if I spent five minutes more on this, I'd probably find even more names for it. So that's it. I'm done. Moving on now.

Thanks! My first blog award too. And such an exotic one. I have been blogging for only slightly longer than you, it is great encouragement.
